My pinned note isn’t on my Lock Screen
Eave shows your pin as a Live Activity, so two iOS settings need to be on:
- Open iOS Settings → Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode), scroll to Allow Access When Locked, and turn on Live Activities.
- Open iOS Settings → Eave and turn on Live Activities.
In Low Power Mode, iOS may update Live Activities less often.
Where did my pin go?
A pin is meant to be temporary, so your Lock Screen stays clear. It ends when:
- its time is up, for example at 4:00 PM if you chose “Until 4:00 PM”,
- you tap Done on the Lock Screen or in the app, or
- iOS ends it. iOS limits how long a Live Activity can run, and may end one early, for example after a restart.
Your note isn’t deleted. It stays saved in Eave, and you can open it and tap Pin to put it back, or tap Pin again on a pin that iOS ended.
Why does tapping Done ask for Face ID?
When your iPhone is locked, iOS asks you to confirm with Face ID (or your passcode) before a Lock Screen button can change anything. That keeps someone who picks up your phone from ticking off your notes. Eave doesn’t open, and the pin updates as soon as you’re confirmed.
Do I need an account or internet?
No account, ever. Writing, pinning, checklists and widgets all work offline. Eave only goes online to buy or restore Eave Pro.
How do I move my notes to a new iPhone?
Eave has no server, so reinstalling won’t bring notes back on its own. Before you switch:
- On your old iPhone, open Settings in Eave and tap Export data. Save the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone, like iCloud Drive.
- On the new iPhone, install Eave, open Settings and tap Import data.
Restoring the new iPhone from an iCloud or Mac backup of the old one also brings Eave’s notes along.
How do I get Eave Pro back on a new phone?
Eave Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account, so you never pay twice. To restore it:
- Open Eave.
- Tap the gear at the top right to open Settings.
- Tap Restore purchase.
Eave checks with the App Store and turns Pro back on: the extra papers, fonts and cats, Repeat, and the Eave Pro widget.
How do scheduled pins work?
When you schedule a note for later, for example tomorrow at 8:00 AM, what happens at that time depends on your iOS version. On iOS 26 and later, Eave pins the note to your Lock Screen at that moment. On iOS 18 to 25, Eave sends a notification at that time, and one tap pins it. Either way, scheduled pins need notification permission.
Eave only uses notifications for scheduled pins and for a warning before a pin ends. It never sends ads or marketing. You can change notifications in Eave’s Settings, or in iOS Settings → Eave → Notifications.
How do I delete my notes?
Your notes live only on your iPhone. There’s no account and no server copy.
- One note or list: delete it in Eave.
- Everything: delete the Eave app. iOS erases everything it stored, including its widget data, and nothing is kept anywhere else.
- Keep a copy first: use Export data in Settings.
See the Privacy Policy for the full details.
Which devices does Eave run on?
Eave runs on iPhone with iOS 18 or later. Scheduled pins that pin themselves need iOS 26 or later; on iOS 18 to 25, you get a notification and one tap pins it.
How do I report a problem?
Email eave@dexterbrylle.com. It helps to include:
- the Eave version, shown under About Eave in Settings,
- your iOS version and iPhone model, and
- the steps that lead to the problem, and a screenshot if you can.
Please don’t send the private text of your notes. The details above are enough to look into most problems.
